Hi all,
Firstly, apologies for the lack of updates.
We have finally agreed upon an engine to work on and it was none other than the famous Nissan RB series engines. In particular we will be focusing our work on an RB25DE unit located in one of UNITEC's vast array of project cars.
The RB25DE is the non-turbo version of the RB25DET which is the little brother of the famous RB26DETT engines.
According to some reports, the RB25DE engine was catered to customers who favoured the silky smooth inline-6 cylinder 2500 cc without the fuel consumption and maintenance of a turbo-charged engine.
Despite not having a single ceramic turbo, the RB25DE shares most of its components and engine specification with its more powerful RB25DET brother.
A cool win-factor with the RB series engines build from 1993 onwards is the incorporation of the NVCS (Nissan Variable Cam System) for the intake cam. This gave the RB25DE more power and torque at a lower RPM than previous models.
Engine specs:
- RB25DE
- Bore & Stroke - 86 X 71.7
- Capacity - 2498 CC
- Power 190ps @5600 RPM / 23.5kg's @ 4800 RPM
- Compression 10.0 : 1
- Twin cam
Thanks for that!
